Pin Up Clown Drag Look

First of all, I have to say that I LOVE being a clown. I remember dressing as a clown for parties on several occasions. I don't know why-- clowns are usually absolutely terrifying, but I love the cute clown look that I do. I think it forces me to look extremely happy, so you can't help but make silly expressions and be happy all night! You can't see the bottom of my outfit (You should have come to my party!) but I was wearing an American Apparel onesie as high-waisted panties/shorts, which gave the whole look a pin-up feel.

I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of clown Blake in the future.

Justin Bieber Manicure!

Justin Bieber nails, manicure, stiletto nails

I broke that nail while I was in Vegas, so I figured what better way to get on the different ring finger nail trend than to do a nail dedicated to the love of my life? (I'm only slightly joking). It was a bit difficult-- I used nail glue, and then put a few coats of gel polish over it. It looks really good, but positioning was definitely quite difficult! I am kind of addicted now though, and I can't imagine having nails without the Biebs staring back at me. That and it's pretty hilarious to everyone.

I just got back from a magical week in super sparkly Vegas! One of my friends from college was getting married, and it also gave me an excuse to see another great friend of mine. Sometimes you don't realize how great your friends are until after you don't see them for forever.

No surprises here, this is what my carryon liquids always looks like. Toothpaste, Justin Bieber perfume, and vodka.

We found a place that had vegan doughnuts called Ronalds Donuts. This right here is a face of PURE JOY. Not only did they have raised doughnuts (as opposed to the denser/cake variety), they were insanely cheap at $1.30 a piece (where most other places would sell them for 3-4$!). I thought I had died and went to glitter-vegan heaven. We spent an entire day eating nothing but doughnuts (not an exaggeration) and each bought a dozen to take home. The box didn't fit in my bag, so I had twelve individually wrapped doughnuts roaming loose in my carry on. Kind of amazing.

Getting ready to go out to the best bar in Vegas, the Chandelier at the Cosmopolitan. It's a three floor bar that's set up like an enormous Chandelier!

The cocktail waitress gave us these flowers that make our mouth numb! Definitely ask for them if you get the chance-- they're on the 2nd level. It was definitely a crazy feeling-- I kind of want to see if I can just buy a bunch of them and eat them all the time!

We ran into these funny beer ads in one of the casinos. I think it was NY NY, but I'm not sure. I swear the one on the right is Amanda Lepore!

We were staying in Planet Hollywood when the Miss Universes were there as well. We caught them walking by-- I swear, I spent about 10 minutes with my jaw on the floor! I have never, ever, EVER seen so many gorgeous women in one place. I mean, I suppose they are the most beautiful women on the planet! They smiled and waved because they liked my outfit, and hopefully I didn't stare too rudely!

I'll post pictures from the wedding when I get them. My friend, the bride, was stunning! I have been to so many weddings the last couple months, and I love them all.

Drag Queen Makeup

I got super dragged out for a party last night-- I guess I was inspired by the crazy drag race weekend the week before! It's hard to tell on my crummy webcam, but I even contoured my face with creme foundation like a real drag queen, instead of powder which is more typical. It felt a bit heavy at first, but was okay after I "cooked" for a little bit and set it with powder. Also, this is coming from someone who doesn't wear foundation on a daily basis!
I'm loving the overarched and very high brows, the over the top shimmer, and of course, the HUGE cat eyes. It's crazy how BAD this look was before all the elements were in place.
For this look I'm wearing my Swagger Cosmetics eyeshadow in Swagger & Artstar, Golden Rose & Rad Bitch on cheeks, and a mixture of the lolipop glosses on lips.

I guess I was bored because I'm making so many dumb faces!

Anyway, whenever the official party pictures are up I'll post them! The party itself was a bit silly, but it was at the W-- which means it's definitely a fancy enough place to have my favourite drink (a Hendricks and St. Germain cocktail, if you were wondering).

Oh, and check out this awesome guy I ran into on the way home!
It's pretty rare for me to ask for others to take a picture with me... which it happened more often!

Last week, I went to the San Francisco Raw Artists awards show as a sponsor. I saw one of the worst burlesque shows ever (I'm sorry, I'm from Seattle so I have a fairly high reasonable standard for) but I also  met a lot of fantastic artists and designers.

I've been tired of my over-the-top girly/lolita look that my styles been gravitating towards lately, so I've been working more hip-hop influence back into my style. I loved the contrast of this outfit with the puff sleeve button up top and the conservative pencil skirt with the high-top patent kicks and Boy London cap.

I'm totally in love with the cap. Thanks Gina for sending it to me!
And gasp! I have eyebrows. What!

Halloween Part 2

Dulce de Leche And I hosted a little Halloween party at Midnight Sun in the Castro, and it was a ton of fun! We saw a bunch of really awesome costumes, from scary witches handing out candy to a whole plethora of comic book/nerd fantasies. I dressed up as a creepy ventriloquist dummy, complete with a huge novelty bow! I still don't remember where I got that, but I've had it forever. I had such a great Halloween this year, but I'm really glad it's over! Now to get ready for Thanksgiving...

McQueen-Flukeman Costume

I had the strangest costume for Halloween. I tend to watch TV shows while I package my cosmetics, and my favourite TV show has to be X-files. Don't even get me started on how much I love Mulder (and Scully, too)! Anyway, while re-watching The Host, I couldn't help but notice a slight resemblance between the Flukeman (the monster of the episode) and this outfit from Alexander McQueen's fall 2009 collection:

Okay, okay, so it's a very LOOSE resemblance, but I was still inspired. I ended up wearing an all white outfit, complete with gloves and opaque tights. Definitely pretty weird for someone whose closet is completely black! I painted my face completely white, drew on huge bloody McQueen lips, and wrapped my head in an unmanageable amount of white tulle. By the end of the night my makeup was blotchy and smeared and the tulle had completely fallen and was randomly wrapped around me.

It's so eerie.

I'm actually downright impressed that one person figured out who I was.

SF Bay Guardian Article on Swagger Cosmetics

These last two weeks have been insane! I've been bouncing between gogoing, hosting parties, and working a whole sling of photoshoots. That and, uhm all that Halloween stuff. In the middle I found some time to sit down for an extremely fun interview with Caitlin Donohue for the San Francisco Bay Guardian. We discussed beauty, gender-bending, and how I'll know I've made it over vegan pie and while pedestrians outside not-so-discreetly took photos. Click the photo to read the article!

New Website!

Whew! I posted about this on facebook but I didn't remember to update here!

It took me literally an entire week of blearily trying to make sense of CSS and getting used to typing with my fresh acrylic claws, but I finally got my new site up! If you haven't see it yet, please take a look at it and let me know what you think!

Busy bee!

This last week has been so incredibly busy with several freelance gigs, filling an absolutely gigantic order for Swagger Cosmetics, gogo dancing, and planning my Halloween costume... Which is going to be EPIC if I can manage to pull it off.

I feel like I'm just coming back to life... Between having to wake up at 8, working all day, and dancing until 2am, I've been a complete zombie! I'm definitely looking forward to this week! I still have a lot of work to get through, but at least I've caught up on some rest.

A couple snaps from this week:
Gogoing with Amoania (one of my friends from Seattle!!) and Tiger. I love Amoania so much, her looks are always over the top fun and creative.
I know it looks really emo here, but I was inspired by Amoania's paint splatters.

Btw, if you haven't friended me on instagram yet, please do!

Drag Queen Fashion Show Pt. 2

I'm still waiting for official pictures from my friend's fashion show that I posted about last week, but I got some more random pictures from the event!

Drag Queen Fashion Show

On Thursday I worked at my friend Maricella Olague's fashion show. She created a line of cocktail dresses (one of which I may or may not have tried to steal off the model!) and wanted all boys/drag queens to wear them! I was the head makeup artist and my assistant never showed up... But that's a different story! I did a very typical drag look with exaggerated smokey eyes, elevated drawn on brows, and a vampy lip for fall. Anyway, it was so fun, I can't wait to get back the photos of all the boys in their dresses, but for now I'll just post the silly poses we bombarded the photobooth with!
Yes, I know I still have makeup on my hands!
I'm loving this short hair! I wore a hat and veil creation from my friend Tiger. The glass parts are actually a mix of glass and plastic-- and were really sharp as I found out! I was talking to someone when I realized that my hands were extremely sticky, and then when I looked down I found that they were covered in blood! Oh the things I do to be fabulous!

Tiger & I. Doesn't he look great blonde??

Kat was the only girl model. She is kind of way too gorgeous! I might be in love.

 So Silly.

San Francisco Fashion Week

Last week my friend Tiger and I went to San Francisco Fashion week (well, okay, only the big show on Sunday). It was so much fun! I met so many fun people who I cant wait to work with in the future.

I've been really digging the vampy look for fall, and I wasn't the only one! Everywhere I looked there were girls rocking deep lips. I typically wear (bright) red, hot pink, orange, or nude on my lips, so this is definitely a different look for me. I also almost never wear black hair, but I've been really enjoying it with this look.

I wanted to go for a no-eyebrow glitter cat eye look like I usually do, but have it different than usual. I drew dots under each eye, and had a different pattern for each eye to give it both a unique look, as well as make it easier for application since I didn't have to worry about symmetry. I loved this look!

It's hard to see in this picture, but I wore a lace yoke top over an american apparel onesie. I'm not sure why I went for a essentially bottomless look when I was surrounded by super tall skinny girls, but whatever! I'm essentially wearing all the same accessories (including wig/hair accessories) as I did the day before at a lolita meetup (post coming soon!), and it's amazing how different or versatile they can be depending on the outfit. The outfits are clearly different, but are tied together with the same accessories. I think I should take a week wearing the same accessories, and build all my outfits around them.
So silly!
Hey, gotta keep the sponsors happy!
Anyway, enough about me, on to the show! There were six designers, but the ones who stood out to me were Artful Gentleman, who showed off perfectly tailored suits with the most fun pocket squares I've ever seen. I unfortunately couldn't find any photos of the collection they showed, but I'll update this when the pictures come through.

I also adored Camelia Skikos, whose inspiration came from the rigid sharpess and beauty of modern architecture. I loved seeing her unique mixture of textiles and silhouettes, and out of all the collections this was definitely the one that I could most see myself wearing (although the colour palette of the collection pictured below may have something to do with it!)

I also adored Van Der Neer: The 11th Dimension, whose clothing was full of fun and cheeky cutouts, embellishments, patterns and shapes that I had never seen before.
